Befitting reply given by a CBI officer

There was a CBI official who went to Police head quarters for a case investigation. There were multiple canteens in that office and gazetted officers' canteen can't be used by all except them. It indeed so even in military academies.

During lunch time, our CBI official who is a non-gazetted officer has entered that gazetted officers' cafeteria and stood in the queue. Meanwhile head of the office of very high cadre happened to visit the same cafeteria for lunch and saw our officer. Generally, state police are envious of CBI people as CBI enjoys better reputation than them. So, with the intention to humiliate the CBI officer and show his powers to the other officers stood in the line, he called our CBI official aloud and said that this canteen is for gazetted officers and and you are not allowed to have your lunch here. He advised him to go to other canteen. At that moment, other officers started to giggle.

Imagine, what you could have done in the same situation? Would you leave as it is his office or told by few levels higher officer? Think for a minute before you read further.

Our Mr. Calm (CBI official), after adjusting his voice, gave an authentic response for which the officer felt insulted and said "Sorry Sir". Mr Calm told him that "I am sorry to say that you are not aware of laws of this country despite being an elite police officer. As per section 5 of DSPE act, the mother act of CBI, if any CBI officer comes to any police station for the purpose of investigating any case, he becomes head of the police station (SHO) irrespective of cadre of the holding SHO. Hence, by virtue of the case i am investigating, i become head of this station and you become by subordinate. However, i don't feel inferior to have my lunch in this canteen among all my subordinates. Also, pls explain me the reasons why i shouldn't issue a show-cause notice for taking disciplinary action against you for not greeting your superior (me) since morning. Also, i pity you as you are considering canteen as more secured place than a defense area to which every CBI officer has access even. I once again feel sorry to educate you that CBI officer has right to access any public place, not just this bloody canteen. After verifying the facts of said law, come and explain me whether i can hold SHO (boss) of this station".

Having heard his reply, all other officers that were finishing their lunches has started to meet and wish him while our CBI official continues to have lunch in the same canteen and going through a file at the lunch table.

So, feel proud to be associated with C B I - Central Bureau Of Investigation. This department gives you that confidence. Brings the best out of you as you get freedom of thoughts and access to multiple things. Think twice before you opt for other services of CGL.
